If you’re looking for gift ideas or want to treat yourself, I’ve hand-picked ten premium tech gadgets that I’ve recently been using – most of which have only recently been released, and you’ve probably never heard of. I’m excited to share them with you because they’re unique and interesting.
1. Eight Sleep
You must see the first premium tech gadget; it’s easily one of the more unique and innovative tech products I’ve seen in a long time.
It is EightSleep’s new Pod3 Cover.
It’s a cutting-edge sleep-tracking and temperature-controlling smart mattress cover.
It is the next generation of sleep and health tracking devices, and it has completely replaced my Apple Watch and Oura Ring.
The smart mattress cover monitors your body and sleep via its 4000 sensor points. The quad-core CPU machine tracks the changes and movements in real-time to deliver the optimal temperature and environment in bed every minute of the night.
One of the most interesting features is the dual-zone setup. My partner and I have different temperature zones based on our body temperatures and can even be buzzed awake without waking the other.
Waking up to the most detailed sleep and health metrics on the EightSleep app has also been a very insightful way to start the day.
There is no better feeling than slipping into a perfectly cool bed on a hot summer night or a perfectly warm bed on a chilly evening.
It has to be one of my favorite tech products of the year, and I’d never go back to sleep without it.
They come at a premium price, but EightSleep is currently running a big sale on the Pod3 Cover and Pod 3 Mattress that you can check out.
2. DJI Osmo 6
The next premium tech item on the list is DJI’s brand-new Osmo 6 gimbal.
It is by far the best mobile gimbal available today. It’s a handheld mechanical stabilizer that creates buttery smooth cinematic footage.
I shot a video of myself running up to my desk without a gimbal on the iPhone 14 Pro to show the difference with the Osmo 6 Gimbal attached. It eliminated any shakiness in the footage despite my running and bopping up and down.
I’m so taken with it that I recently shot an entire Day In My Life video on an iPhone using this portable Osmo 6 gimbal.
It is an excellent gift for anyone starting in YouTube or amateur videography, and it also gives TikToks and Instagram reels a unique look and edge.
While mobile gimbals aren’t as relevant as they once were because phone stabilization has improved so much, it is still a fantastic gift to get if you want to give TikToks or Reels a unique look and edge.
3. Govee M1 Lights
The Govee M1 Light Strip, which I recently installed in my new office setup, is next on the list, and these premium lights have entirely transformed the office corner.
If you’ve seen my videos, you’ll know that I’ve been gradually transitioning my smart light ecosystem over to Govee lights because they’re simply brighter and more versatile than most smart lights at a fraction of the price.
This M1 light strip has a higher LED density of 60 LEDs per meter, making it twice as bright and producing richer colors as other light strips.
I installed it behind a lovely Japanese burnt wood-inspired cabinet. The all-black look is the ideal canvas for smart lights, which add a lot more dimension to this corner space when turned on, especially at night.
You can also use the Govee app to sync these lights with music and other lights, and if you’re feeling particularly daring, there are many fun lighting options in the app to match the room’s ambience. They also have all kinds of lights for different occasions, such as these bulb strip lights, which make perfect Christmas lights.
4. Satechi Charger
Next up is a premium tech gift that won’t break the bank that many of you have been asking about in my setup makeover series video.
It’s Satechi’s 2-in-1 Headphone Stand with Wireless Charger.
It’s a simple yet stylish, high-quality headphone stand made of stainless steel with padded grips and a USB-C port to charge your headset. There’s also a wireless charger for your phone or AirPods.
I like it because it looks great while remaining functional in every way. At $80, it’s an affordable tech gift, yet still, a quality buy.
5. Insta360 X3
The Insta360 X3 is one of the best 360-action pocket cameras, allowing me to capture impossible shots.
It records 360-degree video at 8K resolution, which is insane.
You can take it swimming or camping because its rugged design will withstand a beating, making it the perfect travel companion.
The coolest thing about the 360 camera is it allows you to record everything around you and then crop in on a specific part of the environment in post-production.
It also has many add-on accessories to help you get the perfect shot.
I could go on and on about the features of this thing, but it’s a videographer’s and traveller’s dream, and it makes a great gift.
I’ll take this with me on my trips abroad over the next few months, so let me know if you want a full review.
6. Sonos Sub Mini
The Sonos’ Sub Mini is a high-end tech gift and a welcome addition to your living room setup.
It’s a compact subwoofer with a lot of bass that can connect to the Sonos Ray, Beam, One, or One SL speakers. It makes an immediate difference by delivering much more low-end force and dynamic bass so you can feel the music or action on screen.
It also connects wirelessly via WiFi, allowing you to place it wherever you want without worrying about cable clutter!
It is an excellent home cinema investment, particularly for smaller living spaces or if you don’t want to spend the extra money on Sonos’ full-fledged Gen 3 sub, which is near twice the price.
The sub mini’s design could be more inspiring; it resembles a small futuristic bin, but other subwoofers on the market aren’t much more visually appealing either. It makes up for its performance and is still a great tech gift to try.
7. CIGA Series Z Edge Watch
The next item is the Series Z Edge Mechanical Watch from CIGA.
CIGA is an award-winning watch manufacturer featured in publications like Hodinkee, a well-known watch publication.
The Series Z Edge is a double-sided skeleton watch with a transparent back, so you can see through it and see how it ticks. It’s not exactly “tech,” but I included it because I love watches and am intrigued by how unique the Z Edge is.
This watch is made of titanium alloy and sapphire crystal, so the build quality is unquestionable, with equally lovely packaging.
If you’re into watches like me, you might think this is a Richard Mille knockoff, but it’s not. However, I’m sure it takes a lot of design inspiration from Richard Mille. Given that Richard Milles watches can cost up to a million dollars and that most skeleton watches are not cheap, the fact that this watch is only $250 is astounding.
Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t the highest quality Swiss-made watch, and they’re pretty large, like the Apple Watch Ultra size, so they’re not for everyone. But it’s beautiful for what it’s worth.
8. TEAMGROUP M200 SSD
The following item is one that many people have asked me about: what portable hard drive or SSD drive I use.
I carry the TEAMGROUP M200 SSD with me at all times.
I like this one because it’s tough, made of graphene, and lightweight at only 3 ounces or 83 grams, so I take it with me to the office or when I travel abroad.
But, most importantly, it is swift. It has lightning transfer speeds of up to 2GB per second, which theoretically allows me to transfer a 5GB file in under 10 seconds and edit 4K video files smoothly.
Another interesting fact about this SSD is that it was inspired by the design of the M200 sniper rifle, hence the name, and its pic rails double as a cooling surface area.
It is the drive I wish I had purchased sooner; it would have saved me a lot of time and headaches while video editing, and it is well worth the investment. It is an excellent option if you’re looking for a portable SSD.
9. Nebula Capsule 3
The next item is a portable laser projector.
It is handy, and I’ve used it in various settings, from the living room to while travelling.
It’s essentially a 120″ portable screen that allows you to enjoy a cinematic experience no matter where you are.
The Nebula Capsule 3 has built-in Dolby Digital Speakers and Android TV 11, so it’s just plug-and-play with this single can-sized unit.
Colors are very vibrant, the screen size can be easily adjusted on the fly, and it’s a great laser projector on the go.
I would use this in something other than bright environments because it only has 300 lumens, but it will be ideal for evening use.
And if you want to take it with you, you have to pick it up, grab a USB-C charger, and you’re a button away from a cinematic experience!
10. AirPods Pro 2
Then, I had to include the $249 AirPods Pro 2.
It is most likely the item you’ve heard of on this list, but if we’re talking about premium tech, I’ve absolutely loved my AirPods Pro 2.
The portability, the build, and the sound quality make these my favorite earphones ever.
Noise cancellation has improved dramatically since the first generation. When combined with personalized spatial audio and the new H2 chip for improved audio performance, you have an incredible pair of go-anywhere, do-anything headphones.
They’d make an excellent gift or treat for yourself.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and spoil yourself and your loved ones. Remember that the most important gift you can give your loved ones is your presence and love; you don’t need to provide them with expensive tech gifts to love them. They’re just the icing on the cake!
